VIDEO: Star-struck Pretoria girl (5) meets her idol Karen Zoid
It’s not every day that you get to meet your favourite singer and sing your favourite song with them. Leoné Thomas from Pretoria did just that.
A five-year-old Pretoria girl never thought that her dream to meet local singer Karen Zoid would become a reality until it happened on Friday.
Leoné Thomas was Zoid’s biggest fan, her mother Elzaan said.
“She knows all her songs,” she said.

“Which is why I took her to see Karen Zoid’s concert at the Atterbury Theatre on Friday evening.”
Standing in the crowd, little Leoné sang along all of Zoid’s songs performed, her mother said.
“However, she was disappointed that her favourite song, Toe vind ek jou, was not performed,” Elzaan said.
Determined, Leoné went upstage after the show and asked the guitarist if it was possible to meet Zoid.

“He told her that it was not usually allowed, but he will make an exception and took her backstage,” she said.
“Karen sang her favourite song for her backstage and recorded a video.”

Elzaan said her daughter was thrilled to have met Zoid.
“It’s the only thing she talks about,” she said.
“She shows us the video over and over again.”

Her daughter was so excited that Elzaan said she would take her to see Zoid’s next show at The Bearded Butcher in Pretoria on 17 October.
