Security company to the rescue as east woman goes into labour
Security guards from Brinant Security Group acted swiftly when a distressed woman when into labour at home.

A young woman from Wingate Park east of Pretoria has praised Brinant Security Group for their swift and effective assistance when she unexpectedly went into labour while locked in her home.
“On the night of 9 September, I was at home with my six-year-old daughter. My husband had gone out to play rugby. We agreed that he would open the house when he got home, so I locked myself in, closing all the security gates and doors. At 38 weeks pregnant, I had a scheduled caesarean section planned, but just after 22:00 I went into labour,” Erné Joubert told Rekord.
Joubert had locked herself on the first floor of her home, and could not get out when she started experiencing contractions, seven minutes apart.

“My husband was not picking up his phone, he was obviously on the field, and the only thing I could think of was calling Brinant. In what felt like less than 10 minutes, the Brinant guards kicked down our backdoor and Trellidor security gate. They came up to my room and safely escorted me and my daughter to the Netcare Pretoria East Hospital. By that time I had also contacted my mother, who arrived and helped us. The most surprising thing was that they even arranged for a guard to wait by our house, as the backdoor was now open, until my husband arrived later,” she said.
In a little less than 40 minutes, Joubert was prepped and rolled into the operating room where Zoie Joubert was born via emergency C-section at 00:41, on 10 September.
“Luckily my husband got the message before she was born and he arrived in time for her birth,” she said laughingly.

“I would sincerely like to express my gratitude towards these courageous men at Brinant. I would not have been able to go through the birth process at home, I had no idea what was happening and didn’t know what to do. They saved us and they were extremely supportive, even walking with me into the labour ward, where the nurses took over. Thank you to Johan and Nicholas, I will never forget this experience,” she concluded.
