NEWSFLASH: Man struck, killed on Centurion highway
The man was found lying in the emergency lane with the car that struck him a short distance away.
A man was killed on Wednesday evening after he was struck by a car on the N14 highway before the R55 in Thatchfield.
The accident happened at around 20:00, according to ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring.
“Our paramedics arrived at the scene to find the body of the man, believed to be in his 40s, lying in the emergency lane,” Meiring said.
“The car that had struck him was parked a short distance away.”
“The paramedics assessed the man and found that he had sustained numerous injuries and showed no signs of life.”
In an effort to revive him, CPR and advanced life support interventions were immediately initiated.
“Unfortunately, after approximately 30 minutes, no vital signs returned,” Meiring said.
“The man was then declared dead.”
The driver was not injured.
Local authorities were on the scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
