A security officer was airlifted to hospital after a petrol bomb was thrown at a vehicle he was driving in on Tuesday evening.
The incident happened in the Daspoort area on the corner of Moot and Hendriks streets.
As part of his duties the man, along with other officers, was escorting clients of a private company to their premises in the vicinity when unknown persons reportedly threw a petrol bomb at their car, said TSU security services CEO Anton Lume.
“The petrol bomb went through the window, hit one of my security officers in the face,” Lume said.
“The feedback given was that he sustained 30% burn wounds.”

“The patient sustained burn wounds to the face, his chest and arms,” he said.
“He also sustained inhalational injuries.”
Loubser said the man was stabilised on the scene and then airlifted to hospital.
