North police nab 36 suspects over the weekend

They extended gratitude to community members for their support in informing the police of criminal activities.

The Rietgat police arrested 36 suspects for various crimes over the weekend.

Captain Stephen Maluleka said they would continue to rid the streets of Soshanguve of bad elements.

Among the transgressions for which suspects were arrested were robbery and pointing a firearm.

“Some were arrested for the commission of offences which included inter alia, assault common, assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, possession of drugs, theft out of a motor vehicle, driving without a driver’s licence, business robbery, theft, contravention of a protection order, driving under the influence of liquor, fraud, burglary at residential premises and drinking in public,’’ said Maluleka.

Station Commander of the Rietgat police, Colonel Dikeledi Hlatshwayo and Station Operational Advisor Brigadier Ramakamakama Kekana, hailed the Rietgat police for their extra effort to ensure that wanted suspects were apprehended and charged.

They extended their gratitude to community members for their support in informing the police of criminal activities and the whereabouts of wanted suspects in the precinct.

All arrested suspects will soon appear in the Soshanguve Magistrate’s Court
