UPDATE: No arrests in Moot murder

No arrests have been made after a 32-year-old man was found murdered in his Rietondale home last week.

No arrests have been made after a 32-year-old man was found murdered in his Rietondale home last week.

Edwin Muller was found by his 64-year-old mother, with whom he shared a house after she got home from work last Wednesday.

According to friends, Muller was also known as Werner and Wolfgang.

However, police spokesperson Captain Anton Breedt said Edwin was the name given to him by the investigating officer at the scene.

The police urged anyone with more information to contact them immediately.

“If anyone has any extra information that could bring us closer to catching these criminals, please let us know immediately,” Breedt said.

Rekord previously reported that it appeared that Muller fought the robbers before they killed him.

“He was found with multiple stab wounds to his body and a contusion to the head,” said Pretoria Moot CPF chairperson Elsabe van Staden.

“There was a lot of blood.”

She said it appeared that he was busy getting dressed for work when the robbers entered his home.

“He was found without clothes on,” she said.

“Apparently, he worked shifts, which was why he was still at home when the attack happened.”

In a previous article, police spokesperson Captain Anton Breedt said the robbers gained access to the premises through the back door, which they forced open.

Van Staden said the door was broken open with a spade.

“It is difficult to determine the time, but rigor mortis had already set in by the time officials arrived on the scene,” she said.

The alleged robbers took a laptop, money and jewellery before fleeing.

Breedt said the police are investigating a case of murder and house robbery.

Van Staden urged all residents to stay safe, especially with the festive season approaching.

“During this time, crime tends to run high, which is why the police also start with awareness in October,” she said.

She urged residents to become involved with their local CPF.

“If residents take hands and work together, I believe we will be able to make a difference,” she said.
