Suspected west car thief fails to evade police chase

The suspect thought he could outsmart the police when he drove through a riot in Bremer Street with a suspected stolen vehicle but his luck ran out.

Police’s quick response led to the arrest of a suspected car thief in Hercules on Tuesday morning.

“The suspected car thief (43) thought he could outsmart the police when he drove through a riot in Bremer Street with a suspected stolen vehicle but his luck ran out,” said police spokesperson Constable Tumisang Moloto.

He said the Hercules police crime prevention members were informed about a Toyota Yaris which had been stolen early that Tuesday, in Pretoria West.

“The vehicle fitting the description was spotted, and as the police intercepted the vehicle, the suspect sped off and a high-speed chase ensued.
