Springbok fans made their way in their hundreds to the Union Buildings and Tshwane House on Thursday morning to see the Springboks on their Rugby World Cup victory tour.
During the tour Springbok captain, Siya Kolisi and the rest of the players displayed the Web Ellis Cup to Pretoria fans.
The team was greeted by a sea of green rugby jerseys and residents singing “Shosholoza” and waving South African flags.
The tour started at the Union Buildings, where the team met President Cyril Ramaphosa.
“These men are our warriors who went to war and flew our flag high in Japan,” Ramaphosa said.
“They went in as underdogs with everyone doubting them.
“But they shocked and awed the English team.”
Ramaphosa said when he met with the team shortly before the final in Japan they told him they were nervous.
“But I knew they were lying to me,” he said.

“As I shook their hands and looked into their eyes, I saw victory written all over their hearts.”
He said he was nervous himself during the match.
“I was so nervous I had to run to the bathroom and so missed the first try.”
“But after that first try, I knew we were going to win the game and the cup.”
Kolisi thanked Pretoria residents for taking the time to celebrate with the team.
“I really believe we showed the world we are stronger together,” he said.
“Thank you for each and every message of support.”

After leaving the Union Buildings the team made its way on the victory bus through the Pretoria CBD to Tshwane House.
There the team, with its management and coach Rassie Erasmus, was greeted by Tshwane mayor Stevens Mokgalapa and members of his mayoral committee.
From there, the team made their way to Johannesburg and Soweto.
