Almost time for Christmas project in the Moot
For the past nine years, the community Christmas project has been the highlight of residents in the west of Pretoria’s calendar.

A Christmas project from Pretoria is using a unique way to build spirit and create awareness, with the project officially kicking off in weeks.
This year, the group will share some interesting facts about the project during November, up until the day of the project on 17 December.
For the past nine years, the community Christmas project has been the highlight of residents in the west of Pretoria’s calendar.
Every year, residents drive through the streets of Pretoria with a parade of lights and hand out packets for children and the elderly.

There is not much time left to donate to the project, said project spokesman Xander Loubser.
He said they had until 2 December, to raise the necessary funds.

Currently, the project has already raised about R51 000.
“It is not yet where we want to be, but we are not worried,” he said.
Not only will the project brighten faces in Pretoria, but they will also bring financial relief to other Christmas projects in the area.
This year the group will also do additional areas in the Moot covering Danville, Daspoort, Booysens, Claremont, Hermanstad, Pretoria Gardens, Mountain View, Lady Selbourne, Suiderberg and Wolmer.
For the first time, they will include Mayville, Parktown, Wonderboom South, Les Marais, Eloffsdal and Roseville on their route.
Loubser said a group from their committee will also visit hospitals and nursing homes on the seventh day of their project.
“This gesture is to take Santa to the people who haven’t had the opportunity to come out for the procession themselves,” he said.
Loubser said the parcels they give out were hand-packed and contained a Bible.
“Every knot is made with love,” he said.
He said the Christmas project was reorganised as a non-profit organisation.
The project will kick-off for the 10th time this year.

“We aim to spoil 25 000 children and the elderly this year, through the project,” he said.
He thanked everyone involved with the project.
“We cannot continue with this project if it is not for the constant support of our businesses, community and sponsors,” he said.
“Of course, there is also a faithful Christmas project committee.”
