Four robbers escaped with an undisclosed amount of money following what police were referring to as a “cross pavement robbery” on Saturday in Danville.
The incident happened around 13:05 at a shop on the corner of Knight Street and De Villiers Avenue, said police spokesperson Colonel Brenda Muridili.

“According to reports, a security guard collected money from the shop and after opening the back door of the vehicle, four armed men approached him,” she said.
“They threatened him with firearms and opened the door.”

Muridili said the driver of the vehicle saw the robbers and immediately drove away.
“The suspects managed to get away with an undisclosed amount of money,” she said.
She said they fled the scene in a white bakkie, adding that no shots were fired and that no injuries were reported.
