The Tshwane metro said weather was causing a delay to power restoring in Centurion and surrounding areas.
This comes after they said they were experiencing medium voltage area outages in region 4.
Areas affected, included Eldoraigne, Raslouw, Monavoni Kosmosdal and Louwlardia, said metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo.
He said there were two medium voltage cable faults in Eldoraigne.

There was another two medium voltage cable faults in Raslouw and Monavoni, he said.
Mashigo said in Kosmosdal and Louwlardia, there were three medium voltage panels that tripped at the substation.
He said their system operations were busy with fault isolation.
“The above medium voltage outages are receiving attention to ensure a minimum one circut per area is repaired and energised to restore power while the remaining circuts are also repaired to reinstate network redundancy,” he said.

He said the rainy/wet weather compounded by load shedding in between were undermining all efforts they were putting in to repair and fully restore power.
“In other areas like Raslouw/Monavoni and Erasmia, power was restored only to trip again few hours later,” he said.
“These are just typical examples of what we are dealing with.”
He said repair sites were water-logged from ground water piling up during excavations, making it difficult for cable repairs to be fastracked despite shelters being erected.

“We added another ALO Artisan to fastrack restoration of single customer complaints,” he said.
“For safety reasons, no Artisan is allowed to work on a network that is out during load shedding and this further delay repairs and increase our backlogs.”
Mashigo said efforts were made with additional assistance from other Regions and Utility Services Department to “eradicate the backlogs under the challenges experienced”.
He said three-hourly updates will be posted for residents.
