Locals cover books for east learners free of charge
Principal Anna Ngwenya said learners are entitled to a clean environment and the Cover a Book campaign is a blessing to the school.
It seems like it would be a stress-free start to 2020 for parents and learners at Bohlabatsatsi Primary School who do not have the means to cover their stationery for the new year.
This came after the Tshwane municipal offices, members of EPWP and different stakeholders covered the books for free.
Acting Regional Executive director of Region Billy Sepuru who spearheaded the Cover A School Book campaign said this is part of the back to school campaign.
“Covering books is a programme of helping learners to start a year without any stress and encouraging the learners to have a good academic year.”
“Parents of learners at Bohlabatsatsi Primary School in Mamelodi west don’t have to stress about buying stationery covers for their children to begin the year,” said Sepuru.
However, he said the got the idea from a school covering campaign he attended in Soshanguve last year and since he was working in Mamelodi he decided to bring the idea to Mamelodi.

“For now, we have decided to choose Bohlabatsatsi Primary School because the school is next to our municipal offices.”
Dipuo Sebidi of EPWP said some of the members of EPWP helped to cover the books while others embarked on a cleaning campaign of the school premises.
“The aim was to make sure that the learners study in a clean and healthy environment. They cut off all the long grasses and made sure that the school is clean,” said Sebidi.
