More than 32 north pupils receive school uniform
"We have assisted close to 528 children in Gauteng with school uniforms and other school needs."
The Shakarama Heritage, Furaha foundation, Brand South Africa and Nnusi Gazi foundation handed over new school uniforms to 32 disadvantaged learners last week.
This handover took place at Rekopantswe primary school in Mabopane last Friday.
Principal Anna Sekhuthe said she appreciated the donations because some of the learners attended school in torn shoes and clothes.
“Some end up dropping out because they do not have a uniform, we really appreciate the donations,” said Sekhuthe.
“Seeing the children getting new uniforms was really touching and we thank the donors for their generosity,” she added.
Shakamara founder and event organiser Lesego Komane said it was important to see African children with smiles on their faces.

“When we prepare a young mind at an early age, we are enabling them to handle the future brightly,” said Komane.
“The country’s future is in the hands of the youth.”
Nnusi Gazi Foundation said when they started the foundation, their focus was education.
“If we address educational needs, we would solve the bulk of other societal challenges,” he said.
The initiative was registered with the Department of Social Development in 2010.
When the department received a request for the Shakamara foundation, they immediately got involved.
“Education is one of the pillars that are a part of our core values.
“Getting children to school is important for us,” said Gazi.

“It is important that we visit as many schools as possible, we want to impact and touch as many lives as possible.”
“In an ideal world we would like to help everyone; however, that is not possible, we have many schools and the more we reach out to the better.
“We have managed to assist close to 528 children with school uniforms and their various schooling needs in Gauteng,” he said.
Gazi said Play Your Part, an initiative by Brand South Africa, is an organisation that has endorsed and supported the bulk of their campaigns.
“We exist to serve our own communities.
“We are here to make a difference and are of the view that we are not here for ourselves,” he added.
“We are here to be a blessing to others. It is a common courtesy for us to leave this world better than we found it.”
