North security company reaches out to the needy
“We noticed that there were so many posts where people within our community started to trade household items for food.”
Needy families in Pretoria North will now have food on the table.
A local security company delivered food parcels to 55 needy families on Monday.
Lunarpro Security Express spokesperson Bianca Vermaak said they realised the lockdown would weigh heavily on disadvantaged families, so they identified 35 families from a local school.
“We are trying to do our marketing on media platforms and while we were posting our ads we noticed there were so many posts where people within our community started to trade household items for food,” she said.
“We contacted our church and they told us we can get involved with one of our local schools where there were families in need.”
Vermaak said the company was passionate about helping children which prompted them to help the school and its families.

“We have children ourselves and we don’t want them ever to go without food.”
The company also heard of a group of needy people living in wendy houses in Wolmer whom they also decided to assist.
The food parcels contained maize meal, rice, canned beef, bread and mixed vegetable to name a few.
She said the families were very grateful.
“One of the mothers told us she prayed as her 3-month-old baby did not have any food or diapers for the day. She said God answered her prayers.”
Vermaak challenged other small businesses to lend a helping hand during the national lockdown.
“We are doing this in the hope that other businesses will help as well so we don’t see people within our community go without any food during this difficult time,” she said.
“We should all stand together and help one another.”
