East trainer encourages locals to keep fit
“It is very important to keep fit during the Covid-19 lockdown.”
A Mamelodi fitness trainer wants to encourage locals to keep fit during the lockdown.
The lockdown is also preventing people from going to go to the gym, but people like Thabo Lepule, the Mamelodi founder of TJ Fitness Club are working out at home to avoid physical contact with others.
“It is very important to keep fit during the 21 days of lockdown due to Covid-19 pandemic that is forcing people to stay home,” said Lepule.
He works out at home using ordinary household items.
“It is important to stay fit during this trying time,” said Lepule.
He urged residents to remain home but still find time to keep fit by working out.
Lepule added that “residents must not work out in groups even at home”.

“Try to do it alone if possible and try not to use any equipment.”
He advised residents to stick to cardio exercise which doesn’t require equipment or do squats, jumping jacks, lunges, push-ups and sit-ups which do not always require equipment such as weights.
“Residents need to take the coronavirus seriously. Let’s work together to fight it by first staying at home, keep fit so our body can fight the virus and follow the prescribed rules to avoid contracting the virus,” said Lepule.
Lepule reminded locals of the Covid-19 survival tips:
– wash your hands with soap
– sneeze and cough into your flexed elbow or tissue then throw it away
– do not touch your face, nose and eyes after coughing or sneezing
– use hand sanitiser as often as possible
“Let’s stay home for the duration of lockdown and be safe for ourselves and other people. We need to take the coronavirus very seriously before it wipes our country out.”
