Tshwane property owners called to rates review

The Tshwane metro has called on property owners or any interested persons to submit comments or objections on its valuation roll for the period 1 July 2020 to 30 June 2024.

The Tshwane metro has called on property owners or any interested persons to submit comments or objections on its valuation roll for the period 1 July 2020 to 30 June 2024.

Spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said this was part of the metro’s property rates policy review process, which took place annually.

He said the process was to categorise all properties within the city to generate rates revenue by assigning a tariff to the property values in the general valuation roll.

“The valuation roll is open for public inspection at the regional municipal offices located in all seven of the city’s regions,” he said.

“Any owner, or interested person, who wants to lodge an objection or make input in respect of any matter should do so on the prescribed forms.”

These forms are available at the regional municipal offices or on the metro’s website: www.tshwane.gov.za

Submissions must be made before or on 26 June 2020 at 12:00.

He said an objection must be in relation to a specific individual property and not against the valuation roll.

Lodging an objection does not defer liability for payment of rates beyond the date determined for payment.

Completed forms must be submitted to the City of Tshwane’s Property Valuation Section, PO Box 2067, Pretoria, 0001.

It can also be delivered to the Property Valuation Section, 9th Floor, Bothongo Plaza East, 285 Francis Baard Street.
