A child believed to have died in an accident was resuscitated following a collision between a motorbike and a light motor vehicle in the north of Pretoria on Monday afternoon.
Ambu-Link Emergency Medical Service spokesperson Xander Loubser said the accident was around 14:00 on Sefako Makgatho Drive (Old Zambezi).
“On the arrival of the scene there was a total of five patients. Two were children,” he said.
“In the motor vehicle there was a mom a dad and two children, a boy and a girl.”
“The boy had passed away at the scene, but was resuscitated.”
Loubser said the boy was transported to the Steve Biko hospital in a critical condition.
He said the girl, who seemed to be only a few months old, was transported to hospital with unspecified injuries, but was considered to be in a serious condition.
“The mom and the dad were also transported to hospital with slight injuries,” he said.
The driver of the motorbike is believed to be a learner at a Hoërskool Overkruin and sustained head injuries and a fractured leg.
“He was transported to a local private hospital.”
“We pray for a speedy recovery to all those involved.”
He said the exact cause of the accident remained subject to police investigation.
