Eersterust cops to hang up uniforms
They will be retiring after serving the police and the community of Eersterust for dozens of years.
Eersterust police will be saying goodbye to a combined policing experience of 126 years at the end of June, as four officers go on retirement.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Sam Shibambo said while the four were wished a happy retirement, they would be missed as they hang up their uniforms for the last time at the end of June.
The four were Eersterust station commander Lieutenant-Colonel Maesela John Kgoetego, Warrant Officer Johannes Mogale, Warrant Officer David Mokwena and Warrant Officer Japhta Monyai.
They will be retiring after serving the police and the community of Eersterust for dozens of years.
“Lieutenant-Colonel Kgoetego, who boasts a career spanning 32 years as a station commander at various police stations, served his last five years of his career as a station commander of the Eersterust police station,” he said.
“Warrant Officer Mokoena served the community of Eersterust for 19 years, while Warrant Officer Mogale served the Eersterust community for 26 years.”
Shibambo said Monyai served the community of Eersterust for 13 years of his policing career.
“The police officers at the station thanked the four police officials who unselfishly dedicated most of their adult lives to serving others,” he said.
“They also carried over their knowledge to the young police officials so as to ensure succession in the police and at the station.”
He said the outgoing station commander encouraged all police officers and staff to serve the community with humility and respect in order to honour their calling to serve the masses.
“As they hang their boots and badges with pride, on the other hand they will be preparing for their new journey as civilians from 1 July,” he said.
“The staff at Eersterust police wish these four legends a happy retirement and a fulfilling life as they embark on their new journey as senior citizens of our country.”
