Beloved petrol attendant dies
The father of four often received certificates of achievement for his commitment to serving others.
Friends, family and colleagues of an ‘energetic’ Waterkloof Glen petrol attendant are mourning his death after he died on Sunday morning. William Mdluli (40) worked at a Caltex petrol station.
He died in hospital after a short battle against pneumonia. Willy, as he was affectionately known, worked at the fuel station for nearly 10 years where he gave exceptional service.
“Nothing was too much trouble for him,” said Caltex Waterkloof Glen owner Charlé Bester.
“Some customers asked specifically to be served by him when he was on duty.”
Bester described Willy as ‘an amazing, kind and energetic person’.

“He always called me ‘boss lady’ and would greet everybody with the brightest of smiles.”
“Good morning boss lady, and how are you doing today?”, would be his standard greeting every day he saw me. He was always willing to help with a smile.
“The father of four often received certificates of achievement for his commitment to serving others. He experienced a setback five months ago when he lost some of his belongings in a fire that ravaged his home in Soshanguve, but not even that could keep him down.”
“Despite his problems, he just kept smiling. He always gave 100% and that made him exceptional at his job,” Bester said.
“He will leave a great hole in all our hearts at Waterkloof Glen Motors.”
“If everybody in South Africa had his kind nature, we would have a much better world to live in.”
