Elardus Park employer worried over helper’s disappearance

"Our home is only two blocks away from the garage. This means she must have disappeared somewhere between the two blocks."

Family and friends of a missing Pretoria domestic worker have pleaded with members of the public to help find her. Known as Ayesha, Patricia Katchokota (37) who resides with her employer, was last seen leaving her place of residence in Elarduspark on Wednesday afternoon.

Her employer, Amalia van Jaarsveld, said she left home to buy airtime at a nearby Engen garage on Piering Road, near the intersection with Delmas Road around 15:10.

“She told her husband that she was going to buy airtime so that she could call her mother,” said Van Jaarsveld.

“She left her cellphone behind because it was meant to be a quick trip. But she has not returned home since.”

Van Jaarsveld said the family went to enquire at the garage, but there was no sign that the woman had reached the place. She said their home was only two blocks away from the garage.

“Our home is only two blocks away from the garage. This means she must have disappeared somewhere between the two blocks.

“We notified CPF and we are also seeking help from the police. We are very worried about her,” she said.

“She is such an amazing person, we would not want anything to happen to her.”

Van Jaarsveld appealed to members of the community to keep an eye out for her.
