Covid-19 cases in SA rise to 683 242

About 1 027 new cases recorded since Monday.

South Africa now has 683 242 confirmed Covid-19 cases, the Department of Health announced on Tuesday.

This is 1 027 new cases recorded since Monday.

There were 87 more deaths recorded, bringing the total number of coronavirus-related deaths in the country to 17 103.

According to data released by the department, 616 857 recoveries have been recorded to date, which translates to a recovery rate of 90%.

In total, 4 294 931 Covid-19 tests have been conducted.

The following confirmed Covid-19 cases have been detected in each province, according to the data released on Tuesday:

– Western Cape: 111 596 cases

– Gauteng: 221 320 cases

– KwaZulu-Natal: 119 769 cases

– Eastern Cape: 89 991 cases

– Limpopo: 15 880 cases

– Mpumalanga: 27 718 cases

– North West: 30 103 cases

– Northern Cape: 18 000 cases

– Free State: 48 865 cases
