Trio linked to hijacking nabbed in CBD
The trio were found in possession of two unlicensed 9mm Norinco firearms, live ammunition, bank cards, a laptop and cellphone that were taken from the victim during a hijacking in Silverton.

Three people arrested during police weekend operations appeared in the Pretoria magistrate’s court on Monday.
Dasty Mogashoa (31), Ausan Mudzumwane (29) and Jakinaah Mabe (27) were among the 30 people arrested at the weekend.
The arrests were made in high police visibility operations and stop-and-search conducted in the Pretoria CBD.
Warrant Officer Sophy Samuels, Sergeant Philip Sithole and the team conducted a lookout for suspects and the three were spotted matching description given on Francis Baard Street, said police spokesperson Captain Augustinah Selepe.
“Upon questioning and searching, the trio was found in possession of two unlicensed 9mm Norinco firearms, live ammunition, bank cards, laptop and cellphone that were taken from the victim during a hijacking in Silverton. It is alleged that the victim was later left in Nellmapius in his vehicle,” she said.

Selepe said the suspects’ case was postponed to 14 October.

In another crime prevention operation, officers went to Eeufees off-ramp (circle) to conduct observation in the bushes in an effort to curb theft out of motor vehicles, Selepe said.
As the observation was conducted, three suspects believed to be connected with a string of smash and grabs in the CBD were arrested.
“When police searched the trio, they discovered cellphones, ID cards, wallets, bank cards and other items. The suspects were charged with possession of stolen property,” she said.
Other suspects appeared in court for various charges including common assault, driving under the influence of alcohol, theft, public drinking, possession and dealing in drugs.
Pretoria Central station commander Brigadier Moses Dladla extended his appreciation to crime prevention members in the fight against crime.
