Covid-19 cases in SA rise to 685 155

South Africa now has 685 155 confirmed Covid-19 cases, the Department of Health announced on Wednesday.

This is 1 913 new cases recorded since Tuesday.

There were 145 more deaths recorded, bringing the total number of coronavirus-related deaths in the country to 17 248.

According to data released by the department, 618 127 recoveries have been recorded to date.

In total, 4 318 514  Covid-19 tests have been conducted.

The following confirmed Covid-19 cases have been detected in each province, according to the data released on Wednesday:

– Gauteng: 221 719 cases

– KwaZulu-Natal: 119 930 cases

– Western Cape: 111 826 cases

– Eastern Cape: 90 165 cases

– Free State: 49 270 cases

– North West: 30 288 cases

– Mpumalanga: 27 800 cases

– Northern Cape: 18 207 cases

– Limpopo: 15 950 cases
