Police on the lookout for north house robbery suspects

One of the criminals held a woman at gunpoint and instructed her to keep quiet, police said.

Wonderboompoort police are still searching for more suspects implicated in a house robbery that happened at the beginning of this month, in Capital Park.

“Police are hard at work, looking for more suspects involved in the robbery case,” Constable Mandla Zwane said. Zwane told Rekord that the robbery happened last week, when two men gained entry into a locked house in the evening, and found a woman inside.

“One of the men held the woman at gunpoint and instructed her to keep quiet.”

He said they then first demanded the woman to show them where she keeps her jewellery before robbing her of electrical appliances including a television set and a cellphone.

“They did not find any jewellery.”

After the robbers left the crime scene, the woman notified the CPF and community patrollers, who gave chase on foot and apprehended one of the men, Zwane said.

“The suspect Gaisang Etsang (36) briefly appeared in the Pretoria magistrate’s court on Monday, on a charge of house robbery and unsuccessfully applied for bail,” he said.

Police thanked the CPF and community patrollers for a job well done and encouraged residents to always work with police and operate within parameters of the law. “The management of Wonderboompoort police station urges the community structures to continue working with the police to keep our community safe.

We further urge them to always conduct themselves within the confinements of the law when executing citizen’s arrest,” Zwane said.

“Anyone who breaks the law will be arrested. Residents should not take the law into their own hands when fighting crime.”

Police urged members of the public with the necessary information that can lead to the arrest of more suspects in the Capital Park house robbery case to contact either the Wonderboompoort police station on 012-335-2812 or Crime
