Fiery inferno ravages east triple storey home

Emergency services said the cause of the fire was yet to be determined.

A Newlands home in the east of Pretoria was ravaged by a fiery blaze on Saturday evening.

Tshwane firefighters received a distress call about a house on fire in Roosmaryn Street around 19:20.

“Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters found a triple storey building on fire with a vehicle under threat of catching fire,” Tshwane emergency services spokesperson Charles Mabaso said.

“While the firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze just before 21:00, they remained at the scene until after 22:00 to ensure there were no flare-ups.

“The cause of the fire is yet to be determined,” Mabaso said.

He said that no injuries were recorded in the blaze.
