Seven suspects arrested after robbing a local liquor store in Waverley

"As they left the shop the cashier seemed it strange and contacted the security whereby the lookout was given."

Villieria police station apprehended seven suspects after R15 000 worth of liquor was found in their possession last week.

Citi protection crime response notified members of the Villieria police after they spotted a black Mercedes Vito in Waverley.

“We managed to track the vehicle and gave the tip-off to Villieria,” said Reinhard Rasckhe of Citi protection crime response.

The K9-unit arrested the suspects in Kgosi Mampuru Road in Pretoria Central.

Captain Coba Brits of the Villieria police station said the suspects were arrested for theft and possession of possible stolen goods.

“The suspects entered a SPAR in the Villieria area, with backpacks. It seemed they started filling their packs as they were walking through the shelves.

“As they left the shop the cashier found it strange and contacted the security and a lookout was given,” she said.

All of the suspects were detained at Villieria police station and were set to appear in court on Monday, 2 November.
