The SA Weather Service has issued a warning for potentially severe thunderstorms later on Thursday. A large storm swept through parts of Gauteng this morning leading to flooding in some areas.

“Severe storm warnings are in effect for the entire province (Gauteng), with hail, damaging winds and localised flooding possible in some areas,” SA Weather Service said.

Forecaster Venichia Phakula said a 60% chance of thunderstorms can be expected for the latter part of the evening going into the early hours of the morning.

“For Friday, we are looking at a minimum of 16°C and a maximum of 32°C. We are not expecting rain at all this weekend, however, we do predict isolated showers on Monday,” she said. Click here to see safety tips on flooding.
