Rietgat police arrested 24 suspects for various crimes during their weekend operations.
Spokesperson Stephen Maluleka said the suspects that were arrested included those who committed armed robbery, common assault and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
“Others were apprehended for possession of drugs, theft out of a motor vehicle, driving without driver’s licence, business robbery, theft, rape, contravention of protection order, common assault, illegal immigration and resisting arrest, pointing of firearm, resisting arrest and burglary at residential premises.”
Station commander Colonel Stephina Nkosi praised police for doubling their efforts and ensuring that wanted suspects were apprehended and charged.
Nkosi also commended whistle blowers who collaborated with the station to help curb crime.
Maluleka said all the arrested suspects would soon appear in the Soshanguve magistrate’s court.
