‘Hercules police corrupt’ claims Gomorrah residents

"We want the current station commander as well as top management to step down."

 

Angry residents from Gomorrah informal settlement in the west of Pretoria on Wednesday marched to Hercules police station demanding that the top management step down as they are “corrupt”.

The residents residing in the first established section of the 25-year-old settlement, complained about unresolved cases in the settlement as well as after-hours apportion of liquor places.

The residents are claiming that five black police officers at the station are corrupt and need to be replaced. This includes the current station commander.

 

“Colonel Christina Tsoaedi needs to be replaced by a ‘white’ commander,” said one of the leaders Elmon Boshielo.

“We as community want them to be replaced by ‘white officers’.

“Hercules police offers are crime condoners,” he added.

“Gomorrah is a dangerous settlement in terms of gangsterism and we request equal treatment of all community members without any favours.”

Tsoaedi was present and said she takes note of the points addressed.

“I will respond to the points addressed and keep you (Gomorrah residents) informed,” she said.

Spokesperson Captain Bonginkosi Msimango acknowledged the resident’s complaints.

“Those relevant to the station will be attended to and the necessary steps will be taken.

“Determination will be made after management meets on Thursday, 12 November,” he said.
