Ga-Rankuwa rocked by spate of killings
"It is worrying to have such serious crimes in just one week."
Ga-Rankuwa was rocked over the past week as three people were killed around the township while another survived a shooting.
In the first incident, police opened a case of murder last week Thursday, after the body of a middle-aged man was found lying in a passage in zone 2.
“He was wearing a blue top, jeans and black sneakers when his body was found,” said police spokesperson Captain Matthews Nkoadi.
“The motive for this attack is presently unknown; however, investigations are underway.”

On Tuesday, a woman was shot dead during a drive-by shooting while the man she was with, survived the shooting.
Nkoadi said the couple were walking along the main road when a white car stopped and opened fire, hitting them in their upper bodies.
The man believed to be involved in the incident appeared in court on Monday, on charges of murder, attempted murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
In a third incident, a 24-year-old man was found dead in the bushes of zone 23, also on Tuesday.
Nkoadi said the victim showed signs of a struggle on both hands and his body.

He said police could not rule out the intolerance of community members towards each other for these incidents.
He encouraged community members to report every single criminal activity that they saw even if it did not directly involve them.
“We are facing challenges as it were, but we happy with the way the community has been helping them with the information regarding these incidents.
“We already have one arrest. In the other incidents we are following some leads through the help of the community, meaning we might also crack those murders. It is worrying to have such serious crimes in just one week, we do not anticipate to have such horrible crimes, we aim to curb this by all means.
Nkoadi requested any member of the community who might have witnessed the incidents to contact crime stop number 08600-10111 or the My SAPS App.
