Community blood drive and fun day to thank nurses
Caressa Nursing Care Services hosted a fun-filled day with hotdogs, music and of course the South African National Blood Service (SANBS).
Caressa Nursing Care Services recently hosted a fun-filled day in Lyttelton, Centurion, with hotdogs, music and of course the South African National Blood Service (SANBS).
“Our goal for the day was to assist the SANBS with blood, as their units are decreasing by the day,” said Leonie Prinsloo from Caressa.
He added they also wanted to show the community “what we do at Caressa and to boast with the fact that our essential workers are still going strong”.
“Covid-19 and the national lockdown was detrimental for all, but we’re still here and we’re celebrating the fact that through it all we are standing strong, and caring for our nation’s most vulnerable.”

Prinsloo said Caressa aimed to have at least 15 people from the community donate blood.
“They exceeded all expectations, as 25 units of blood were donated.
“We had a blast, we just wanted to celebrate and bring some light in a time where most people are depressed, over-worked and financially strained,” Prinsloo concluded.
Caressa Nursing Care Services is a private nursing practice that specialises in care for people at home as an alternative to hospitalisation and assistance in specialised care.
