What you need to know about Tshwane’s nature reserves and recreational facilities under lockdown level 3

Nature reserves will be open from 09:00-18:00, while others will be closed until further notice.

Tshwane metro has published details for municipal reserves and recreational facilities under lockdown level 3.

The country was moved from level 1 to 3 by President Cyril Ramaphosa on Monday evening, in a bid to stem the rising numbers of positive Covid-19 cases.

Tshwane metro spokesperson Selby Bokaba said the new adjusted regulations meant the following for Tshwane:

Resorts:

All recreational resorts – Fountains Valley, Derdepoort, Rooihuiskraal, Ga-Mothakga, Kwaggaspruit, Zwartkop lapa, Moretele park, Bronkies Angling, Die Draai, Klipkruisfontein, Joos Becker caravan park, Rietvlei Angling would be closed until further notice.

  Nature reserves:  

–  Wonderboom, Groenkloof, Austin Roberts, Klapperkop, Rietvlei, Faerie Glen, Moreletakloof and other nature areas will be open from 9:00-18:00.

 These facilities will only be open for self-drive game viewing, hiking and mountain bike trails.

 – Picnic sites and bird hides will be closed at all nature reserves.

– No alcohol will be allowed on self-drive game viewing, hikes and mountain bike trails.

–  All dams and municipal swimming pools will be closed.

– Camping and picnic areas will be closed.
