Woman seriously injured in botched north armed robbery

The female vehicle occupant was found still in the vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds.

A woman travelling in a car was seriously injured when she was shot in an apparent botched armed robbery in the north of Pretoria on Saturday.

“She’s in a serious, but stable condition,” police spokesperson Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk said.

Medi-Edge paramedic volunteers reportedly found the woman still inside the vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds.

The paramedic volunteers said it was believed to have been the aftermath of an armed robbery which took place in Doornpoort, north of Pretoria, between Dr Swanepoel Drive and Graf Street, after midday.

“The patient was stabilised and received specialised advanced life support treatment on the scene,” Medi-Edge’s statement said, adding that a medical emergency helicopter had to be activated to airlift her to a specialised hospital in Johannesburg.

Van Dyk said armed robbery and attempted murder dockets had since been opened for investigation.
