Trumpet call echoes far and wide in Pretoria East

Dan Newell, a trumpeter from London, sent a sound clip of the "Amazing Grace" recording.

The Jesus is King South Africa Trumpets Call was once again heard from the Bronberg mountain top in the east of Pretoria three times on Easter Sunday.

Organised by local resident and business owner Albertus Potgieter, trumpet sound played at 8:00, 12:00 and 16:00 for five minutes at a time.

“The feedback we received was positive and we even received phone calls from as far as Australia, New Zealand, Holland, the United Kingdom as well as America from those who tuned in on our social media pages,” said Potgieter.

Potgieter said the trumpet calls were heard from far and wide in the east – from Mamelodi to Moreletapark.

Dan Newell, a trumpeter from London, sent a sound clip of the “Amazing Grace” recording.

Newell travelled to South Africa where he was a guest at one of Angus Buchan’s gatherings, “It’s Time Pretoria”.

Potgieter said the inspiration for the Jesus is King trumpet sounds event was based on Isaiah 18:3: “All you people of the world, you who live on the earth, when a banner is raised on the mountains, you will see it, and when a trumpet sounds, you will hear it.

He said the aim of the event was to lift up people’s spirits.

“The Holy Spirit said that nothing stops us to proceed, especially on a day like today, the Resurrection Sunday.

“We need to pause and make time to listen to the Word of God.

“Some people are in a state of depression and I hope through this calling, we want to encourage people and give some inspiration to lift their spirits,” he said.

“I would like to thank everyone involved to once again host a successful religious event.”
