Tears as dad dies after horror accident
Labertus Robbertse leaves behind his pregnant wife, children, parents and family.
A father who was injured in a weekend car crash has died in hospital leaving his family torn by the loss.
The 35-year-old father, whose other child in on the way, died after his condition took a turn for the worse earlier this week.
His mother Charmain Wilson Robbertse shared the sad news of his passing on Friday morning.

“Rest softly my child, you have fought so bravely. We are going to miss you every day. We promise to watch over Riekie, Luzandra, Kayla and baby. Love you forever and ever,” Charmain wrote on Facebook.
Lambertus, his pregnant wife Riekie and their daughter Luzandra (2) were driving on the Old Warmbaths Road, when their car and another collided head-on.
Riekie was miraculously unscathed and Luzandra was recovering from injuries to her leg and head.
Lambertus sustained critical injuries to his body and internal organs.
On Wednesday, his condition in the hospital took a turn for the worse.
Charmain wrote on Facebook on Thursday about the family’s last hours with Lambertus:
“Lampies is my stepson, my husband’s oldest. We got married when the children were very young and in our family there are no stepchildren and own children, these are all our children, even our foster kids are our own.
“Lampies’ biological mother is as much a mother to my children as I am to hers.
“Mamma Mona was in contact with our daughter Cillie who has Covid. Mona was only able to test yesterday, and, therefore, could not visit Lampies at all. She feels so excluded and her heart is breaking for her son.
“Daddy had to make every decision so far, and do it all in prayer and faith and with my support. The circumstances make an already terrible situation unbearable,” she wrote.
“There is no sleeping in the evening, there is planning, asking, and there is praying and crying. Would Lampies live, what quality of life lies ahead for him? Will there be funds for care, or months of rehabilitation. If he cannot work again what will become of these children of ours?
“And this morning the call came, we need to get to the hospital right away. Our hearts were in our throats.
“The 10 minutes we had to sit in the family room and wait felt like hours. Then we were told: ‘he is not doing good. The ventilator had to be turned up to maximum capacity. He keeps getting fits, his organs are shutting down and taking strain, he is not getting oxygen to his brain, and a million other stuff. But the worst was, ‘he is on full life support, the only organ functioning is the heart’.
“The scene that played out in front of me was heartbreaking, and even the doctor got tears in her eyes. This huge colossal block of a strong man falling on his knees in front of the doctors and as tears ran down his cheeks, as he begged: ‘please give my child just one more chance, just this one, I cannot choose to turn off the machines, please make the decision’.
“My heart stopped beating and broke into 10 trillion pieces. No father should ever beg like that. ‘I beg You Lord, please make the decision’.”
