Another increase in Tshwane Covid-19 cases
“This is yet another significant increase which serves as a stark reminder that we are in the midst of the third wave.”

Tshwane residents have been warned to take precautions as the metro sees yet another spike in Covid-19 cases.
The metro has seen a week-on-week increase in the number of active Covid-19 cases.
As of today, Monday (June 14), Covid-19 active cases have jumped to 10 971.
“This is yet another significant increase which serves as a stark reminder that we are in the midst of the third wave,” said Tshwane mayor Randall Williams.
“In the previous week, the number of active Covid-19 cases stood at 6 492.”
Williams said newly confirmed daily cases were also increasing, ranging between 1 300 and 1 700 cases per day.
“I want to encourage Tshwane residents to be vigilant and continue adhering to adjusted level 2 regulations,” he said.
“Equally we must also continue practising safety measures such as wearing of masks, washing hands regularly and social distancing.”
He said the metro was also continuing with the roll-out of its vaccination programme and eligible residents were encouraged to register to receive their jabs.
“We will continue to monitor and track the progress of the virus in the current third wave and advise our residents accordingly,” he said.
