A number of patients were taken to various hospitals with “moderate injuries”.

A light motor vehicle caught fire following a three-car collision on the N1 highway south near Botha Avenue in Centurion on Sunday afternoon.

Tshwane emergency services spokesperson Charles Mabaso said a minibus and two light motor vehicles were involved in the collision and one of the cars caught fire.

The incident was reported around 15:20 on Sunday.

Mabaso said Tshwane ambulance services transported two men who sustained “moderate injuries” to Kalafong hospital in Atteridgeville.

“Private ambulance services transported an unconfirmed number of patients from the minibus to unknown hospitals prior to the arrival of Tshwane emergency services.”

Mabaso said he could not confirm the condition of those transported by the private ambulance services to hospitals.

He said the driver of the minibus indicated that 14 passengers he had been transporting were taken to hospitals by private ambulance services.
