Claremont family loses everything in house fire

The family was able to get their three children out safely, but their house was left gutted by flames.

A Pretoria West family of five lost everything in a devastating house fire in the early hours of Friday morning.

Tshwane metro emergency services responded to a fire at 877 Beacon Street in Claremont around 02:47.

The family was able to get out to safety, but their house was gutted by flames.

Employer of the family, JP Viljoen of MCJ Solutions said he received a very worrying phone call at 02:23.

According to Viljoen, the father sustained light burn wounds to his hand.

“They have three children, including a year-old.

“The family pets were unable to escape the fire and perished,” he said.

Viljoen said donations would be greatly appreciated and the funds would go towards anything and everything house-related or clothing for the family.

“If anyone would like to make a contribution, they can contact me directly on 081 310 0988,” he said.

Tshwane emergency services spokesperson Charles Mabaso said that firefighters arrived on the scene to find two Wendy houses on fire and immediately initiated firefighting.

“No injuries were reported and the cause has not yet been determined,” he said.
