Tribute to a fallen hero

"He was a dedicated man who never hesitated to help where he could."

The sudden death of a Life Med ambulance service dispatcher has left those who knew him deeply saddened.

Friends and colleagues of André du Plooy got together on Sunday evening to pay a special tribute to a remarkable person and loved employee at Life Med’s offices.

Roché Naudé of Life Med, said that they were informed of Du Plooy’s passing on Friday morning.

“Heaven has gained an angel.

“Your footprints will forever remain in our hearts,” he said.

According to Naudé, his colleague had been struggling with his health, having also tested positive for Covid-19.

“I spoke to him a day before his death, and he said he was feeling much better and would soon return to work,” Naudé said.

Du Plooy was an employee at Life Med for over 10 years.

“I still wait for his vehicle to drive into the entrance of the building, but the fact that he is gone still feels unreal.

“He was a dedicated man who never hesitated to help where he could.

“He will be sorely missed,” he said.
