Pta North City Hall ready for vaccinating teachers

“For now, only teachers and education staff is expected to receive the J&J vaccine for the next two weeks.”

Pretoria North City Hall is ready to be used as a vaccination site for members of the education sector.

Pretoria North ward councillor Yolanda Duvenage confirmed on Tuesday, that vaccination of teachers would start on Wednesday.

“The Covid-19 vaccinations will only be for teachers and members of the education sector for the next two weeks,” Duvenage said.

The vaccinations will be at the community hall on the corner of Emily Hobhouse Street and Brits Avenue.

Last week, acting health minister Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane confirmed the arrival of 300 000 J&J vaccines meant for the education sector.

Briefing the media on the vaccine roll-out and the government’s response to Covid-19 last Friday, Kubayi-Ngubane said the vaccination programme for the education sector would start as soon as possible.

Duvenage said the city hall was well-equipped and staff of the Pretoria North Clinic will be administering the vaccinations.

“They have a permit and inspection of the site was done,” she said.

“For now, only teachers and education staff are expected to receive the J&J vaccine for the next two weeks, until a freezer to store the Pfizer vaccine (at -40°C) is available. We expect vaccinations for the elderly will follow soon.”

Tshwane metro reminded that people, registered for vaccinations, can use any of these registered vaccination facilities throughout the city:
