‘Fraudster’ busted over property scam

“The possibility of additional arrests cannot be ruled out as investigations continue."

An alleged fraudster was summoned to appear in court in connection with fraud of almost a R1-million for a bogus property sale earlier this week.

The 22-year-old suspect reportedly created a duplicate email address to scam potential buyers in Pretoria in October 2018.

“Further investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly intercepted and redirected the property buyer to the email address where they provided new banking details of which over R800 000 was transferred,” Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, the Hawks, spokesperson Captain Ndivhuwo Mulamu said.

“The possibility of additional arrests cannot be ruled out as investigations continue,” Mulamu said.
