AfriForum Centurion hard at work to make the area ‘safe and clean’

"Since the start of these projects, more than 1 500 black bags full of rubbish, bushes and grass have been removed."

The AfriForum branch in Centurion is constantly working to improve the environment and strengthen the community. This branch has embarked on several major projects since the beginning of the year to achieve just that.

They have already launched four sustainable projects where workers have been appointed to keep certain areas in Centurion clean and safe.

These projects take place in Highveld, Valhalla and the old military cemetery in Voortrekkerhoogte.

Chairperson of AfriForum’s Centurion branch, André de Bruyn said these workers clean sidewalks weekly, pick up garbage and mow grass against fences that are considered hiding places or escape routes for criminals.

“Since the start of these projects, more than 1 500 black bags full of rubbish, bushes and grass have been removed. The overall condition of the areas has therefore improved significantly.

“The branch is grateful to every member who makes it possible for us to drive these types of projects.

“If we work together we can move mountains. If you are not yet part of this and want to help accelerate these projects, we encourage you to get involved to make a difference together,” De Bruyn said.

According to AfriForum’s district coordinator for Greater Pretoria South, JP Nel, they will continue to undertake projects that make the environment cleaner and safer for everyone.

“Projects similar to these ones, make it possible for us to make a difference and that we can do it in a sustainable matter.

“We wish to make Centurion as clean and safe as possible and make it a suburb that one can be proud of,” he said.

The branch plans to undertake several major projects throughout the year and would like to invite the community to keep an eye on their social media pages and join the groups on the Telegram app.
