Community members play integral role in apprehending suspects
“Just after 16:00 members of the community spotted the two suspects, and shortly thereafter they were arrested.”
Two suspects were arrested for housebreaking and house robbery on Friday afternoon in Heuweloord, Centurion.
According to JP Le Roux from Monitor Net, members of the community of Heuweloord noticed and reported a suspicious white Opel Corsa just after 12:00 on Friday afternoon.
“The suspects were busy breaking into a residence and when security members from Scorpion responded, the vehicle sped off.

“A high-speed chase resulted and backup was requested. Community members and security members of Monitor Net showed up to assist. The suspects caused a motor vehicle accident in Brakfontein Road.”
Le Roux said three suspects then fled on foot, however, the security members managed to arrest one of the suspects close to the scene.
“Various security companies assisted, such as Axon, Noordvaal, ADT Fidelity and Copwatch, looking for the other two suspects.”

He said members of Axon security also assisted in securing the suspicious vehicle.
“After a couple of hours’ search, the search was cancelled.
“Just after 16:00 members of the community spotted the two suspects, and shortly thereafter they were arrested.”
He said members of Wierdabrug police arrived a few minutes after that and searched the vehicle.
