Menlyn Maine ‘robber’ caught following shootout
“Shots were fired by the suspects, in response to security officers responding to the incident.
A man was arrested following a robbery at the Central Square in Menlyn Maine on Wednesday morning.
Marketing manager at the shopping centre, Celeste Vinassa, said the incident took place at 10:52.
“Shots were fired by the suspects, in response to the security team of Menlyn Maine reacting to the incident,” she said.
No one was injured in the incident.
Vinassa said the security officers apprehended a man and recovered his firearm. The alleged robber was handed over to police.
“SAPS was on site within minutes of being contacted and a full investigation is underway,” she said.
It was unclear whether the man had an accomplice or what was stolen at the centre.
