Tshwane active Covid-19 cases continue to break records
“I would like to encourage Tshwane residents to continue adhering to adjusted level 4 regulations."

The latest number of active Covid-19 cases have once again continued to break the records during the peak of the second wave, the Tshwane metro said on Monday.
“Our most recent Covid-19 report indicated that active cases have now risen to another record high of 26 796,” mayor Randall Williams said.
“The continued increase in Covid-19 infections is indicative of the ferocity of the current third wave.”
A week ago, the number of recorded active cases stood at 24 669.
“It is also worth noting that the current figures far exceed the peak we experienced during the second wave which stood at around 16 000 cases,” Williams said.
Confirmed cases ranged between “record highs” of 3 000 and 4 000 daily.
“I would like to encourage Tshwane residents to continue adhering to adjusted level 4 regulations including wearing of masks, sanitising and practice social distancing,” he said.
Williams said the metro’s vaccination sites remained opened for eligible residents, adding that they were now vaccinating people aged 50 and above.
“It is important that we get more people vaccinated to achieve herd immunity,” Williams said.
