Three behind bars for selling alcohol under level 4 lockdown

The successful arrest comes after the police received a tip-off about a spot where alcohol was sold.

Three people were arrested for selling alcohol in contravention of the disaster management act over the weekend in Pretoria Central.

The trio were among 32 people arrested over the weekend, said police spokesperson Constable Thabang Nkhumise.

“The successful arrest comes after the police received a tip-off about a spot where alcohol was sold on the corner Sisulu and Francis Baard streets,” Nkhumise said.

“Upon arrival, they spotted three men coming out of the identified spot with bags containing alcohol.”

He said liquor worth R25 000 was confiscated.

All the suspects were taken to Pretoria Central SAPS and charged in accordance to the contravention act.

The Pretoria Central station commander Brigadier Moses Dladla welcomed the arrests and further reprimanded the community to adhere to the regulations set by the state and to refrain from illegal activities.
