“Rest in peace Peet du Preez,” read a message from Christo van der Rheede.
“What an exceptional person you were. Your doors at Leriba Hotel were wide open to anyone who needed a few hours to forget their troubles.

Du Preez was in the news in November of last year after he, a chef and an ex-employee, were injured during a home invasion at his home in Clubview.
Six assailants gained entry into his home to ambush Du Preez and the others.
Du Preez had to be rushed to hospital after the attack.

In 2017, Du Preez received the Centurion of the Year award by the Centurion Business Forum.
Despite attempts by Rekord, Du Preez’s family could not be reached for comment.
