Experienced cop appointed at Wonderboompoort as station commander
Building a good working relationship with internal and external stakeholders will assist the Wonderboompoort police station to achieve its goal of providing the best service to community members, says the newly appointed station commander.
Wonderboompoort police announced on Wednesday that Lieutenant Colonel Dinah Tabane had been appointed as their new station commander.
“I am pleased to announce the new station commander is an experienced policewoman ready to work with the public to fight crime in the area,” Constable Mandla Zwane told Rekord.
Lieutenant Colonel Tabane’s appointment came into effective on Tuesday, July 6. She replaces Lieutenant Colonel Matume Mabale who died in February this year after a short illness.
Zwane said Lt Col Tabane brought a wealth of experience as she has 28 years of service in the police, including 12 years in the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
She worked in the flying squad, highway patrol, 10111, police stations and the district.
“She worked at Pretoria flying squad in Silverton, Krugersdorp flying squad in West Rand before she was then transferred to Soshanguve, Mabopane and Ga-Rankuwa police stations. She was the head of visibility policing in these stations.”
In the district level, she served as the social coordinator for the former Tshwane north cluster.
She moved back to Soshanguve and then to Akasia before her appointment at Wonderboompoort.
Lt Col Tabane said her first priority was to first build a good team working with officers at the station and also establish and maintain a good relationship with external stakeholders.
“Teamwork is important – it will help the station achieve its goals,” she said.
She said a good working relationship with external stakeholders, such as the CPF, was also important.
Local CPF chairperson Albert Michau said the CPF members were pleased to hear a new station commander had been appointed.

“We are very excited about the new Lt Col coming to join us,” Michau said.
“We believe we are going to have a good relationship with her.”
He believes that working together with the police will help curb crime in the area.
He congratulated the newly appointed station commander on her new role.
