No more bunking classes for schoolgirls

Sanitary towels were recently donated to two primary schools in Mamelodi.

The generous donation was made by the members of Msfab Events aimed at helping school girls not to bunk classes when it’s time for their periods.

Boitumelo Nkosi of Msfab said the first donation was made to Umthombo primary school in Mamelodi West on June 29.

Nkosi said in total the school has received sanitary towels that would last the school up to 12 months “as we have covered the first quarter in January already”.

On July 6, the members of Msfab went to Shirinda primary school where they further donated four months’ worth of sanitary towels to grades 5 to 7.

Mamelodi East SPAR is the main sponsor of sanitary towels.

“Msfab Events is a skills development non-profit organisation that teaches children of Mamelodi about handwork and also helps out with other social issues,” said Nkosi.

She said she was proud that she has done something for the community of Mamelodi and the schoolgirls can always look forward to go to school every day without any stress.

“I am grateful to the SPAR for donating sanitary towels and the school girls were happy to receive the generous donations,” she added.

“The learners were taught about what is happening monthly with their bodies and we don’t want see school girls missing out on schooling every month because of menstruation.”

Nkosi pleaded with local businessmen to help their community with donations, especially to the needy.
