Tshwane notes a slow uptake in jabs
“The call comes as the City has noticed a slow uptake in our vaccination programme by eligible residents.”
The Tshwane metro has noted a slow up-take in vaccine registrations, partially for those aged 60 and 69.
The concern comes as Tshwane health MMC Sakkie du Plooy cautioned further that Covid-19 infections in Tshwane continued to reach alarmingly high levels.
“The metro would like to call on eligible residents to register for vaccination.
“The call comes as the City has noticed a slow uptake in our vaccination programme by eligible residents.”
He encouraged residents to get their jabs.
Du Plooy said the metro was working with the Gauteng Provincial Health Department to find ways to speed up the vaccination process, encouraging eligible residents to register for Covid-19 vaccinations.
He said residents with symptoms or who have been in close contact with confirmed positive cases were encouraged to visit outreach teams deployed to hotspot areas for free screening and testing.
He said in the coming week, residents could expect teams deployed as follows:
– Tuesday: The Wonderpark shopping centre
– Wednesday: Montana sport centre
– Thursday: Centurion Lifestyle centre, Centurion
– Friday: Atteridgeville Community Hall
– Saturday: Garankuwa City shopping centre
